How Lucky Are We? TWO Snow White Films?

In a dusty old book somewhere in the California Hills it is written that every few years two competing films must tackle the same story and be released at the same time. Deep Impact/Armageddon, A Bug’s Life/Antz, Volcano/Dante’s Peak. No one knows why it just is as it is.

And we are again, with Universal’s Snow White and the Huntsman battling Relativity’s Mirror, Mirror.

Let’s take a look at what’s in store:

Well that was terrible, let’s see if Snow White and the Huntsman looks any better…

Yes it does, but not by much.

Mirror Mirror is directed by Tarsem Singh who recently brought us Immortals, and in fairness it does appear to be skewing young. That doesn’t excuse the “Snow Way” line.

Snow White and the Huntsman is helmed by Rupert Sanders, who has made a name directing commercials. His take looks far, far, more interesting than Mirror, Mirror but doesn’t really look like any Snow White that I’ve ever seen. It does have Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth throwing tools about again so it piques my interest a little.
