Visual Effects Society to award Stan Lee the 2012 VES Lifetime Achievement Award
In what some are saying is a controversial move, the Visual Effects Society have nodded toward giving Stan Lee the 2012 Lifetime Achievement Award.
Deadline have reported that VES chairman Jeffery Okun said when announcing the honour, “Stan Lee’s imagination has created a completely original and profitable niche in the entertainment world and has allowed visual effects to flex its muscle in service to it”.
Excelsior! Marvel have some up with some great visualisations, however part of me has to agree with the fact VES awards should belong to film directors who created these amazing visuals rather than comic books turned into films.
Is this a cheat? Has all the hard work been done when filming comic book films? As much as I admire Stan, his work has profoundly touched my life, I feel previous winners such as George Lucas is more deserving for the Visual Effect Society award than Stan on this occasion.
