Dr. Lector to Enjoy Some Fava Beans on the Small Screen

Deadline has it that everyone’s favourite cannibal, Hannibal Lector is set to make the jump to the small screen with the aim being to “explore the early relationship of Thomas Harris’ signature character, renowned psychiatrist Dr. Hannibal Lector, and his patient, a young FB criminal profiler named Will Graham, who is haunted by his ability to empathize with serial killers.”

Lector’s screen exploits range from indisputable classics (Silence of the Lambs, Manhunter) to utter trainwrecks (Hannibal, Hannibal Rising) so no one will be too upset that the character is being moved to television.

While no one is leaping for joy, the project does have some clout behind it with Bryan Fullar writing it. Fullar was responsible for Pushing Daisies, Dead Like Me and the parts of Heroes that were bearable.

I wonder what they’ll call it. Hannibal was the name of the terrible film, Lector sounds too much like Dexter… am I over thinking this?
